About - Andy Steele
Andy didn’t have the opportunity to start racing as a child, but grew up in a car and motorsport loving family. In his first year at Loughborough University, Andy found himself running the University Karting club and helped to rebuild the club over his time there (1998 to 2002) including helping to establish what became the British University Karting Championship run with Club100. Unfortunately in the final race of his final year Andy broke his leg at Clay Pigeon.
Having graduated with a Computer Science degree Andy started work in the corporate world, but the desire to compete still burnt strong, and Andy soon found himself discovering the world of Sprints and Hillclimbs. Gaining his first competition license in 2008 with his road legal Caterham 7, track days not being competitive enough. While starting a family took some focus, for his 30th birthday Andy was gifted a Thruxton Race Circuit driving experience, and saw this as a great opportunity to tag on getting his full race license.
This led to racing Formula Ford for a while, but a growing family soon took over again. While still being an active member of the Caterham 7 community, a plan was hatched with fellow owners to form a endurance racing team, to build a car and race in the Citroen C1 Racing Club series. In 2018 the car was finished and began competing, in 2019 Andy took part in his first 24hr race, with a record 99 Citroen C1’s racing round the clock at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.
While continuing to compete, having been made redundant from the corporate world at the end of 2019 Andy decided to complete the ARDS (Association of Racing Driver Schools) Instructor training, and became an race instructor in January 2020, Andy has been actively instructing ever since, rising up to Grade A level. To further develop his skills Andy completed the Motorsport UK training course to become a Level 2 Motorsport Coach in 2025.

Based in Berkshire, Andy works for UK circuit race schools, with Thruxton being his home circuit and ARDS sponsoring race school, while also instructing at various other circuits and experience venues including Croft, Goodwood, Brands Hatch, Castle Combe, Dunsfold, Bicester Heritage, Abingdon.
